Here for a good time...

...not planning on a long time.

Rules.

ㅤOne.ㅤPersonal RP Limits
I will play mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, drug / alcohol use) as long as they're logical in a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language, temporary injury and incapacitation, temporary imprisonment, and most walk-up encounters are probably okay. If you are uncertain, please ask!
ㅤTwo.ㅤPlease Ask First
Ask about long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment.
ㅤThree.ㅤI Do Not
I won't play permanent character death or rape plots.
ㅤFour.ㅤDisclaimer
If an aspect of RP makes you uncomfortable in a scene we're playing, please send me a /tell, letting me know. Communication is very important, more important than potentially keeping immersion.
I know this sounds trite, but I honestly mean it. PLEASE tell me if you are uncomfortable for any reason and I will retcon or change tactics, whatever you need.Ingrid can be a jerk, but I am generally not.

Five.ㅤERP Limit
I will fade to black on graphic sex.
ㅤBleed.ㅤ ㅤGiven that IC/OOC "bleed" (defined below) is quite common in the RP community, I prefer my RP partners to recognize that IC does NOT equal OOC and try to minimize bleed to the best of your ability.Bleed here is defined as "when emotions bleed over between player or character, in either direction." Bleed is experienced by a player when their thoughts and feelings are influenced by those of their character, or vice versa. With increasing bleed, the border between player and character becomes more and more transparent. It makes sense to think of the degree of bleed as a measure of how separated different levels of play (actual/inner/meta) are.

Biography.

Name: ㅤIngrid Sunnhvatr
Alias: None. That you know of, anyways.
Age: ㅤFifty-five. Ish.
Gender: ㅤFemale (she/her)
Race: ㅤRava Viera
Orientation: Bisexual

"I could do that. Probably."

Eyes: ㅤViolently purple
Hair: ㅤRaven black
Complexion: ㅤThe sun-darkened tones of a Golmoran Rava.
Distinguishing Features: Besides her unusual eyes, Ingrid's face proudly bears the tattoos of her long-dead village, Hjolstorm, and she keeps her warpaint on nigh constantly. You never know when you might need to scrap or prove yourself.
Close Friends: ㅤIngrid's friends--mostly soldiers, mostly dead--are few in number, but she and her very first friend outside the jungle, Emilia pyr Castellan, still write frequently.

Parents: Rota Hjolstrom was Ingrid's mother, and one of the few people who encouraged Ingrid to find the path in life that made most sense to Ingrid, rather than what was dictated to her.
Siblings: The village was her family, so none. Not anymore.
Significant Others: The original Ingrid Sunnhvatr, who has since passed, only a few weeks before the armistice. Current Ingrid is...not over this.
Children: ㅤNone.
Pets: None.

Pictured: A fierce fighter from the ashes of the village of Hjolstorm in Golmore, Ingrid is the first line of defense for anyone in need.Other notable talents include lazing about, taking stupid dares, and asking questions.Old in body (sort of), and young at heart, Ingrid does not act her age and prefers to instead performatively experience the youth she never had.

Date of Birth: ㅤIn the spring? Maybe?
Education: ㅤYeah, that's funny.
Residence: ㅤNone, travels frequently.
Ethnicity: Golmoran. A viera of the Wood.
Occupation: None. Currently seeking purpose as a day-drinker & adrenaline junkie.
Alignment: ㅤGenerally fluctuating between Chaotic Good and a weird sort of Lawful Good.
What can I say, D&D's alignment system is garbo for nuance.

Physical Conditions: ㅤIngrid is in tip top shape from a life of constantly needing to stay fit to survive.
Mental Health: "That's not a real metric, right? People can't measure your mind, right? How do they look at it?" - Ingrid
Zodiac: ㅤNymeia is her chosen Eorzean Patron, despite being born in Golmore and having spent her last several decades in Bozja. People kept asking, so she picked one.
Her actual patron is the Voice of the Wood, the Green Word.

Notable Skills: Fighting. Specifically, guarding her fellows. And beyond that, she's good taking more hits than should be possible. And beyond that, the thing that takes actual skill, in her mind, is that she can divine the will and advice of the land around her, using various divination tools.Tarot and oracle cards are a recent addition to her divinatory repertoire, but Ingrid is adept at reading traditional Golmoran runes as well, though she may hesitate to suggest them.

Warning: This section is META information provided to give you a feel for Ingrid. It is not for your character to know, unless I give you explicit OOC permission.

History Written in Blood

Ingrid’s childhood was not idyllic—no life in the Wood is free from hardship, after all—but hers was at least a standard as they come.

When she presented as female at thirteen, the rambunctious young Rava was immediately set on hunting duties from then on. The young woman had a talent for it, and diving and weaving in the Green all day seemed to suit her just fine.

It wasn’t until her early twenties that Ingrid discovered her gift for divining future possibilities and wisdom from ritual portents. And even then, as a “novice” with only a decade of reading under her belt, her readings were always taken with a grain of salt. And rarely, Ingrid was told to “go back to hunting” and keep her nose out of activities that were better suited for women that weren’t so Warderly.

Which is why her village deliberated over the truth of her Sight, instead of preparing or acting to save themselves when her tools began to show only imminent doom, over and over.

And it’s why only Ingrid was left, after the Garleans razed her village.

Ingrid may have survived the initial attack, but she did not make it far in the compromised Wood on her own. Not for lack of skill at stalking the jungle like the apex predator she was, but because, reeling and stumbling from both a successful doomsday reading and losing all the community, family, and structure she’d ever known in one fell swoop, Ingrid ran headfirst into remnants of the same Garlean legion that had razed Hjolstrom, her village.

Ingrid managed to take out more of the wretched invaders than she could count on both hands, but in the end, she was restrained, captured, and forced to endure the indignity of being removed from the remains of the only home she’d ever had.

With zero understanding of the barest and most basic hints of Common, or knowledge of anything outside the Wood, Ingrid struggled to understand why they forced her to live, when her village had been slaughtered to a (wo)man, and to comprehend what her captors wanted from her. Treated largely as a beast during her time in captivity, today, Ingrid knows that the Garleans would have loved nothing more than to experiment on her or mold her into their army (or both!), but she was canny and quick enough at escaping her binds and bounds that her Garlean Wardens spent more time chasing her down and recapturing her–a rare echo-bearer, unbeknownst to Ingrid– than she actually spent in chains.

How they must have hated her, this woman no better than an animal in their eyes, but who was blessed with a mark upon her soul that they needed to examine for their research while she still lived.

Fortunately, before Ingrid proved more trouble than she was worth, the Reaper found her.

Emilia pyr Castellum, a full-blooded Garlean with no regard or respect for her genetic ‘purity” or status, hated the violence towards the rest of the Star perpetuated by the leaders of her people. With great regret, she took the traditional arms of her own immediate clandestine clan and learned to speak the only language that those leaders understood with great fluency: violence against fellow mortals.

When Emilia’s band of resistance fighters and reapers broke out into an outlying base of Project Meteor, none of them expected to find Ingrid–not only still lucid after years of high security and solitary confinement, but clearly eager and able to fight her way out of the complex. With only flickers of understanding of what was said to her as Ingrid’s Echo struggled to ignite to help her survive, the resistance fighters picked up a gunblade from the corpse of a nearby loyalist and armed Ingrid.

She still bears the same gunblade to this day, albeit with heavy modifications and wear.

Abandoning their plans of sabotage, Emilia’s squad diverted their efforts to rescuing Ingrid and the many other hostage Echo Bearers in the complex. After five long years rotting and trying to escape, Ingrid finally emerged from her prison…only to find the Bozjan front waiting for her.

Reluctantly, Ingrid allowed Emilia, not much older than herself, to take her under her wing. Emilia was a Garlean and therefore extremely untrustworthy in Ingrid’s mind, but…over several decades, Emilia became not only Ingrid's mentor and teacher, but her best friend and strongest lifeline in the tumultuous world of the Bozjan resistance.

Even now, Ingrid and Emilia remain close despite their physical distance and lack of war to unite their causes. After the armistice, Emilia returned to Garlemald to assist her people with not only reconstruction, but to learn to accept the help of outsiders. Ingrid, for her part, has remained a wanderer–lost and adrift as the Wood and the War both have nothing for her now.

When the Bozjan front was active, though, it gave the impressively depressed and recently released Ingrid a new lease on life. She threw herself into fighting and learning everything her fellow fighters had to offer. She learned to excel with her makeshift weapon, and to chase the adrenaline high of risking her life to set the world to rights–or at least enact vengeance for the years and lives stolen from her.

And it was here that the woman we know as Ingrid Sunnhvatr was born from the ashes of the actual Ingrid Sunnhvatr.

The original Ingrid was a Veena fresh from the mountains of the Skatay range. A skilled healer, the woman now known as Ingrid was frequently found in the original Ingrid’s infirmary, and eventually just her company in general. After several years of a will they, won’t they back and forth where both women were too scared to make the first move, now-Ingrid threw caution to the wind and asked old-Ingrid out in a lull between battles.

From there, the two were inseparable for years until about a week before the Bozjan armistice, when old-Ingrid was struck by Garlean artillery and felled. Now-Ingrid wears her name as a badge of honor, and so that her name will never be forgotten.

Threads & Hooks.

Reasons to RP with Ingrid! While these aren’t pick up and plot hooks for the most part, hopefully these scenarios give you some insight into what your character may have seen Ingrid do, or have heard about her acting a certain way. If you have any questions or ideas, please do not hesitate to reach out IG!

One.

Double or Nothing.

Prerequisite: None
Ingrid can’t say no to a dare. If there’s money on the line in a contest, so much the better. Is she guaranteed to lose? Disappointing, but nothing ventured, nothing proved, right?
Does your character have a wager that needs someone to take the bad bet? Do they want to see her attempt impossible tasks? Got a contest of physical skill or strength that Ingrid might be able to try? Does your character have a bad idea they need company for? Ingrid will do it! She’s got time.

Two.

Can't do it. Not today. The stars are not in position!

Prerequisite: None
Ingrid is a talented diviner, even if she doesn’t pull the punches her cards and runes dish out. She also follows the advice she gets from them to a T, and is very superstitious about signs and portents. Still, she’s been getting a name for herself from her drunk, late night, free…and super accurate readings.
If you can find her and ask for it, Ingrid will if not gladly perform a reading for you, then at least can be easily convinced of the necessity of a reading and do her due duty. She usually frames her readings as “advice” and not “predictions”, but they trend towards the scarily accurate anyways.

Three.

Woodborn Warden, not a Warder.

Prerequisite: None
Ingrid is a rough and tumble Woodborn Viera who will shield her charges with her own body without a second thought. She’s deadly in a variety of methods and tools…and she is the most Warderly female viera you will meet, but she will be quick and bitter to deny any connection to Wood Warders in that thickly accented timbre of hers.
Does your character have connections to Golmore? Do they find Ingrid odd (she is)? Is your character from the greater star, finding great amusement that this woman knows so little of the rest of the world at her age?

Four.

Momento Mori.

Prerequisite: None.Ingrid wears a very battered, very Eorzean-style locket at all times. She fiddles with it and toys with it while talking, but rarely opens it and looks inside. If anyone comments on it, Ingrid moves the subject along.Should anyone try to touch it, Ingrid breaks their fingers.Do you want to see inside this mysterious jewelry? Do you want to know why such a Woodborn woman covets and protects such a piece of junk?

Five.

Latent Echo-Bearer.

Prerequisite: Aethersight; Having the Echo.WIPAlso WIP

Six.

Keeps Bad Company

Prerequisite: None.WIPAlso WIP

Seven.

Esspresso Depresso.

Prerequisite: Previous Connection to Ingrid.WIPAlso WIP

Eight.

Her Name Is My Name Too.

Prerequisite: None.
Seeing double? Not unusual. Word is, this Ingrid is not the first one. The first Ingrid was a Veena from Skatay. A kind and talented traveling healer who was exploring the Star, she hasn’t been heard from or seen in probably about a decade.
Has your character been treated before by the Veena Ingrid? Have they just heard stories of a woman who doesn’t match now-Ingrid’s description? Is Ingrid just a very Veena name that you would not expect a Golmoran woman to have?
